I’ll be offering a selection of new instruments, bows, and accessories and

vintage instruments and bows for sale to my local clients. All instruments and bows are thoroughly checked in my shop before I will release them.

Due to the nature of my business, my stock may be somewhat limited.

VINTAGE INSTRUMENTS AND BOWS

Here are a few nice, vintage instruments and bows that I have for sale.

I will also consider renting out many of these instruments.

Contact me if you would like more information,

or would like to try them out.

Instrument Rentals: I’ll be keeping a small number of very nice quality rental instruments. An example of the type of rental instruments that I’m planning on having are the Becker 1000, or Metropolitan Music (John Juzek) violins. These are decent quality instruments, have all ebony fittings and are all individually checked in my shop. These will be available locally for $15/month + NYS sales tax.

Return/tryout policy: Instruments may be returned within a week (with no damage) for full refunds.

Trade in policy: I will buy instruments back (with no damage) for a reasonable price minus a reasonable monthly rental fee.

Please keep in mind, that I keep my prices as low as I can, and if I were to give full refunds at any time after a sale, I would have a severe book keeping problem. If you bought an instrument from me last year, I have already paid your sales tax to the State, and reported and paid income tax on any profits from the sale.

This instrument is a nice old German Amati copy. The actual date of manufacture is unknown, but it’s sometime before WWII. This is a nicely made instrument, lined and blocked. It has been professionally set up with all cracks and seams repaired, new pegs, nut, bridge, fingerboard planed. Price: $450.

Here is a nice ¾ size Strad copy from Czecho-Slovakia, pre-WWII. This violin has been totally redone. This instrument has no corner blocks, but the corners were reinforced while the top was off for other work. The top has been regraduated, and a new bass bar installed. It has a new fingerboard, nut, saddle, bridge, and pegs. This instrument is currently on loan to my fiddle teacher (she plays a ¾) who really likes the way it turned out. Price: $800.

Here is a ¾ size Pfretzschner from 1967. It was imported into the US in 1967, and set up by the Roth company. This is a nice student instrument. I used this instrument for a varnish retouching class that I attended this year, so there has been some touch-up and minor repair work done to the outside. It comes with very smooth Caspari mechanical pegs, a new nut and bridge. It currently has one fine tuner on the E string, but I’d be willing to equip it with 4 fine tuners for a buyer. This currently has synthetic strings on it and sounds very nice. Price with a case: $350.

“Johann Uhlrich Fichtl” Violin

This violin is labeled “Johann Uhlrich Fichtl in Mittenwald an 1763

I doubt that this is a real Fichtl from 1763. The work looks like something from the  19th century. There is a small “GERMANY” stamp about 1/16 inch high right below the endpin. The work appears to be typical German shop work and compares to a lot of the instruments described in the National Music Museum as being from “Markneukirchen and/or Schönbach (Luby)” in the 1880 to 1910 era. You can see more pictures of this instrument on my “Latest in the Shop” pages.

Here’s the final result.

The instrument has a new bass bar, new soundpost, new pegs, and new bridge. This instrument has been set-up with D’Addario Zyex™ light tension strings, and they really bring out the sound!. It plays pretty nicely for an old “factory fiddle”. This is a great playing, and sounding instrument!  Price: $1000.00

SOLD!

NEW INSTRUMENTS, BOWS, AND ACCESSORIES

Wall Independent is now an authorized dealer for the fine John Juzek, Eastman Strings, Howard Core instruments and bows, and GEWA and Negri cases to our local clients.

Because of my low overhead, I can order these instruments for my clients at a considerable discount from the list price. I will also do a complete check on the instrument before I release it from my shop. I can also custom outfit many of these instruments with your choice of  strings, pegs, tailpiece and chinrest. For example, If you see a Juzek or Eastman Strings instrument that you like, but would prefer Dominant strings and Rosewood fittings, I can probably do that for you at a reasonable cost. As I am mostly a luthier, and work out of my home, my stock of instruments and cases is limited. Please contact me for pricing, ordering and availability.

You can see the entire line of  Juzek instruments at:
